iPod touch screen interface patent filed

Apple has filed a patent that unveils details regarding a touch screen interface to be used in a future iteration of an iPod or a tablet-style device. Titled "Proximity detector in handheld device", the patent document informs readers of how the interface works in navigating menus and making selections, all via finger movement on the screen. Whenever a user's finger is near the screen, the touch screen interface would detect it and display a virtual scroll wheel and other inteface elements automatically. When will such technology be incorporated in future iPods, we don't know. What we're sure of is the fact that iPods are getting more and more sensitive with each generation, making the protective case all the more important.
